Kathmandu Airport to grant heavy discount offers for midnight flights
Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), Kathmandu has decided to grant a heavy discount offer for all the international airlines that are flying after midnight, in order to avoid the congestion. The airport is dealing with the problem of rapidly rising passenger number, leading tough management in the operation.
This new scheme will begin from January 2020. The airlines will be benefited by at least 25% discount on each ground handling cost. Currently, airlines who operates during the lean times (early morning to 1pm) are given a 15 percent discount. The 1pm to 6pm time slot is considered the peak travel time at the airport.
The scheme has been targeted for the upcoming Visit Nepal 2020 campaign that aims to bring 2 million tourists.
